About
My connection to South Algonquin began in 1978, when I first came to Aylen Lake with my wife’s family. Nearly 50 years later, this community has become our permanent home.
My wife and I purchased our waterfront cottage in 2018, and in 2026 we made the full-time move to South Algonquin.
Before moving here, I spent my working life in agriculture and rural business. I co-managed a herd of 125 registered Holsteins and later helped build Canada’s largest operation growing and supplying DNA-tested garlic, with 402 varieties known around the world.
When Chinese garlic threatened Canadian growers, I led a successful trade challenge before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, resulting in a 385% anti-dumping tariff. That experience taught me the importance of preparation, persistence, and standing up for people.
I have also served in leadership roles with agricultural and rural organizations, including the Canadian Ginseng Growers Association, Norfolk Holstein Association, local Federation of Agriculture, and Brant Milk Co-op. I served on an Irrigation Advisory Committee, working with Environment Canada to protect watershed and water-taking permits.
I’m bringing that experience, work ethic, and commitment to Dickens Ward because I believe local government needs people who will listen, work hard, and follow through.
Why I'm Running
I’m running for Councillor in Dickens Ward because I care deeply about the future of this community.
South Algonquin is more than a place where I live. It is a community I have known, loved, and been connected to for nearly 50 years. I understand what makes it special, and I understand the importance of protecting its lakes, roads, rural way of life, and strong sense of community.
I’m not running for a title or political career. I’m running because I believe Dickens Ward deserves a councillor who will listen, show up, speak honestly, and work hard to get results.
I will bring practical experience, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to serving all residents—year-round and seasonal.
Key Priorities
Protect Our Land and Lakes
Aylen Lake and the surrounding forests are not just beautiful—they are our way of life and an important part of our community’s future. I will support responsible development, strong environmental stewardship, and decisions that protect water quality and property values.
Roads and Access That Work
Rural roads and water access are lifelines, not luxuries. I will advocate for dependable roads, reliable emergency access, and fair attention to residents who depend on seasonal roads and water access.
Fair Representation for Every Resident
Whether you live here year-round or spend your summers on the lake, you pay taxes and deserve to be heard. I will work to ensure that all Dickens Ward residents receive fair, respectful, and effective representation.
Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability
I understand the value of a dollar and the importance of making careful decisions. I will ask questions about spending, support transparency, and work to ensure taxpayer money is used responsibly and delivers real value to the community.

Where I Stand
Protecting our land and lakes: I support responsible development, environmental stewardship, and decisions that protect water quality and the natural beauty of South Algonquin.
Improving roads and access: I believe rural roads, seasonal roads, emergency access, and water access must receive the attention they deserve.
Representing everyone fairly: Year-round and seasonal residents all pay taxes and deserve a voice, respectful service, and fair representation.
Responsible spending: I believe Council must be careful with taxpayer money, ask difficult questions, and provide transparency about how funds are spent.
Open and accessible government: Residents should be able to reach their councillor, have their concerns heard, and know their elected representative is willing to show up and follow through.
Community before politics: I will work with every member of Council to get results for Dickens Ward, regardless of politics or personal relationships.
